Advancing the Science
Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc. recently announced that the company is establishing a U.S. Innovation Center in San Francisco's Mission Bay, the heart of an emerging biomedical research community. Our goals for the Center are to expand our global research network and grow our specialty pharmaceuticals' pipeline.
The Center will house Bayer's dedicated team of scientists who drive our strong hematology research program for coagulation factors and the discovery of novel biologic drug candidates. In addition, Bayer research scientists working in targeted areas such as cardiology, oncology, women's healthcare and diagnostic imaging will rotate through this science hub to collaborate with the critical mass of innovative thinking that is clustered in the Bay Area and broader U.S. life sciences sector.
We will collaborate with academic research scientists and small biotech and biopharmaceutical companies to build partnerships ranging from the research bench to the clinic that will bring novel discoveries to market. Working together, we have the potential to create significant benefits for patients.
The Center is scheduled to open in January 2011.
